Just two days after setting yet another personal best on the track in the 3000m (8:38.01) at the Memorial Van Damme IAAF Diamond League meeting in Brussels on 5-September, Betsy Saina posted her second straight victory on the roads, this time at the Rabobank Ladies Run 10 km in Tilburg. The stellar field included Emily Chebet (’10 & ’13 IAAF World Cross Champion), Margaret Wangari (’10 & ’13 IAAF World Cross top-6 finisher), and Joyce Chepkurui (’14 season 10 km world leader at 30:56). After still being in the company of Chebet at the 5 km mark (15:29), Saina subsequently pulled away to capture the title in a PB and ’14 world-leading 10 km time of 30:46, and in the process building significant margins on Chebet (2nd in 31:04), Wangari (3rd in 31:34), and Chepkirui (4th in 32:19). Andrew Mang’ata also performed well in the men’s 10 miles race in Tilburg, placing 4th in a personal best 45:59.
Other Golazo-managed athletes with noteworthy performances on the roads over the past month included Eunice Barsosio (1st in Brazzaville Half Marathon in 1:10:56 on 14-August), Kenneth Kipkemoi (6th in Prague Grand Prix 10 km in 27:56 on 6-Sep), Eunice Kirwa (1st in Luanda Half Marathon in 1:08:31 on 7-Sep), and Amos Mitei (4th in the men’s division at Luanda in 1:00:53 PB).
