Rio Olympic Games – Track & Field Day 9: Rop finishes 7th in 5000m final

In his Olympic Games debut, Albert Rop finished 7th in the Rio 5000m final with a time of 13:08.79.  In a tightly-contested race that saw the top 11 finish within 6.5 seconds, Mo Farah defended his ’12 London Games title (13:03.30), ahead of silver medalist Paul Chelimo (13:03.90), and bronze medalist Hagos Gebrhiwet (13:04.35).  Rop’s finish time was his second-fastest of the season, behind his 13:04.87 from Diamond League Shanghai.
