The Track & Field News No.3 spot in the 10000m is the highest world ranking for Josphat Bett so far, with his previous best being a No. 9 ranking in the same event following the 2011 season. Highlights of Bett’s 2014 season included his victory in the 10000m at the Kenyan trials for the Commonwealth Games, followed by his runner-up performance in the Commonwealth Games 10000m final in Glasgow.
Other Personae-managed athletes earning Top-10 world rankings for the ’14 season included Ferguson Rotich Cheruiyot (No. 4 – 800m), Betsy Saina (No. 5 – 5000m and No. 5 – 10000m), Ruth Jebet (No. 5 – 3000m SC), Hillary Yego (No. 7 – 3000m SC), Paul Kipsiele Koech (No. 8 – 3000m SC), Philip Milanov (No. 9 – Discus), Purity Kirui (No. 9 – 3000m SC), Milcah Chemos (No. 10 – 3000m SC), and Isiah Kiplangat Koech (No. 10 – 5000m).
Saina is the first Personae athlete since 2007 to world-rank in two different events and the count of ten world rankers in 2014 ties the highest-ever number of Golazo-managed athletes receiving such honors (2012).
An international panel of track & field experts decide the rankings, with emphasis on honors won, head-to-head records between athletes, and sequence of marks. The complete rankings will be published in the February-2015 issue of the magazine. They can also be viewed at www.trackandfieldnews.com.
