IAAF World Championships Day 2: Aprot claims 4th place in 10000m final

Day 2 of the IAAF track and field world championships in London (5. August) included the women’s 10000m final, which was won by ’16 Olympic champion Almaz Ayana in a ’17 world-leading time of 30:16.32.  The race for the two remaining medals was between Tirunesh Dibaba, Agnes Tirop, and Alice Aprot Nanowuna, with the silver medal eventually going to Dibaba (31:02.69) and the bronze to Tirop (31:03.50).  As in the ’16 Rio Games 10000m, Aprot had to settle for 4th with a time of 31:11.86, which makes her the top placing Personae-managed athlete so far at these championships.

Also on Day 2, Kipyegon Bett and Ferguson Cheruiyot Rotiech both won their 800m heats with times of 1:45.76 and 1:45.77, respectively, advancing them to the 800m semi-final round to be held on 6. August.
