Hannes produces top European 1500m time of outdoor season

Pieter-Jan Hannes‘ 1500m performance at the Fanny Blankers-Koen Games in Hengelo rode the momentum established during the ’15 indoor season, when he on 21-February in Birmingham set a national indoor 1500m record of 3:37.40, surpassing the prior national mark of 3:38.01 set by Christophe Impens in ’97.  The mark ranked Hannes 4th – Europe/11th – World over 1500m at the conclusion of the indoor season.  His outdoor 1500m personal best of 3:34.49, set last year in Heusden-Zolder, is 2nd on the Belgium all-time list for the event, behind Impens’ outdoor national record of 3:34.13 from ’96.
