Aprot, Rungaru, and Kipsang take titles at African Cross Country Championships

In the women’s senior race, Alice Aprot was unchallenged in posting a winning time of 29:52 for the 8 km distance (Sheila Chepkiriuin finished 2nd in 30:44).  This was Aprot’s second medal at the African Cross Country Championships, having placed 3rd in the 2014 women’s senior race.

The men’s senior race in contrast went down to the wire, with James Rungaru (KEN) edging Philip Kipyego (UGA) by a 26:34-to-26:35 margin for the 10 km distance.

Personae newcomer Isaac Kipsang convincingly won the men’s junior event (8 km) with a time of 21:33, ahead of 2nd placer Ronald Kiprotich (21:44).

Aprot, Rungaru, and Kipsang all led Kenya to the team titles in their respective events.
