Ferguson Rotich and Alfred Kipketer both secured spots in the 800m final by finishing a very close 2nd in each of their semi-final sections.  Rotich’s time of 1:44.85 was the overall second-fastest time of the day (0.01 sec behind Amel Tuka), while Kipketer’s 1:44.99 (0.02 sec behind Adam Kszczot) was the fourth-fastest among the twenty-four semi-finalists.  The men’s 800m final will be held 25-August.

In the opening round of the women’s 400m Hurdles, Axelle Dauwens finished 5th in her heat in a season-best 55.84.  As the fastest among those finishing outside the auto-qualifying positions (top-4 in each heat), Dauwens moved on to the semi-final round, scheduled for 24-August.

Personae-managed athletes not able to advance out of their sections included Abraham Rotich in the 800m semi-finals (5th in 1:48.61), Michael Bultheel in the 400m Hurdles semis (8th in 49.66), and Alphas Kishoyan in the 400m heats (6th in 46.02).
